Genesis 14

Central Idea of the Text: When Lot is swept away with Sodom in the war of the kings, Abram pursues the victorious kings, rescues Lot, and recovers everything. When he return, Abram is met by two kings: Melchizedek, king of Salem and priest of God Most High, who blesses Abram and praises God as the One who gave him victory; and the king of Sodom, who offers Abram the riches of the war. Abram gives a tenth to Melchizedek but refuses Sodom’s wealth, determined that no one but the Lord, God Most High, could ever say, “I made Abram rich.”
